The growth of enrolments at Scone Grammar School in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales has been remarkable. However, this growth presented the School with particular challenges which had to be addressed in order for this small School to continue to provide an outstanding educational offering. To overcome this and other significant challenges, the School revised its Masterplan to provide for the construction of a new Secondary Teaching and Learning Centre. This new facility would be completed in stages and provide much needed classrooms, science laboratories and student study space.

Despite the School being in a good financial position, they could not undertake such an enormous project without the help of philanthropic support from the School community.  Underpinned by a $750,000 Federal Government grant the School launched a capital campaign to raise $6.75 million in two stages to fund the Secondary Teaching and Learning Centre.

The Upper Hunter Valley is home to some of Australia’s wealthiest individuals and families. The Campaign Leadership by the Principal, Council Chairman and the Foundation Chairman was pivotal to successfully engaging a select group of the Scone Grammar School community to provide significant philanthropic support. Stage 1 of the capital campaign was successfully completed with over $3.5 million raised which has seen the new Secondary Teaching and Learning Centre opened for use by students.  Having successfully finished fundraising for Stage 1 of the new building, Scone Grammar School is confidently embarking on fundraising for Stage 2. Watch this space for an update of their success!
